About
Founded on three decades of diplomacy.
Prism Global was founded by Julie Chung, a career American diplomat and national security expert who most recently led an interagency mission in Colombo, Sri Lanka as the U.S. Ambassador. Over a Foreign Service career that began in 1996, she advised at the most senior levels of the U.S. Department of State and led American teams across three continents.
She served as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary and Acting Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs, and held senior Indo-Pacific roles including Director for Japan, Deputy Chief of Mission in Cambodia, and Economic Counselor in Thailand — with earlier positions spanning Tokyo, Hanoi, Bogotá, Baghdad, and Guangzhou. She led multiple delegations to North Korea on denuclearization discussions with the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization. Her work has centered on commercial advocacy, maritime security, crisis management, public diplomacy, and regional strategy.
A first-generation Korean American and one of the inaugural Thomas R. Pickering Fellows, she was a career member of the Senior Foreign Service and a recipient of the Presidential Rank Award for leading repatriation efforts of thousands of American citizens from Peru during Covid. She holds a B.A. from the University of California, San Diego and an M.A. in International Affairs from Columbia University, and she speaks Korean, Japanese, and Spanish.
